We’re haul in this together ||  A Book Haul!! <3

Guess who impulsively bought books again?!

The past two months have resulted in me buying a lot of books, because apparently I love to double up my TBR pile, and today I thought I’d show them to you guys! Most of these are second hand cause I’m broke as ever and second hand books will always be my savior.

I haven’t read a book in like two weeks so hopefully I’ll read some of these soon! Without further ado let’s jump on to it. P.S did you see I designed graphics for this post? *gAsP* have I really overcome my laziness ? no don’t worry I haven’t ahah

“Sixteen-year-old Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.”

I’ve heard so much about these two, and I thought maybe it was time to finally pick them up. I’ve been needing a good contemporary read lately ,(too much fantasy is exhausting!) and these look super cute! Becky Albertalli seems to be such a popular author and I haven’t read a single one of her books 😭 (~thE shAme~) adding these two to the list of popular books I have yet to read 😀 .

“A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery. Humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control. Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.”

I borrowed scythe from the library in the beginning of the year and flew through it. It was a reallyy long time ago but needless to say I adored it. I tried getting into the sequel right after that but I ended up DNF’ing it because at that time I though it was most boring thing I’d ever read. I really wanted to enjoy it but siGh ~. Well the new year is arriving so I thought maybe it’s time to give these books a second chance :,) . I would’ve reread them from the library but being the impatient little creature I am, I went ahead and bought it, resulting in an empty wallet hehe.

Out of the pages of the Shadow and Bone trilogy, from the hands of Alina Starkov to yours, the Istorii Sankt’ya is a magical keepsake from the Grishaverse. These tales include miracles and martyrdoms from familiar saints like Sankta Lizabeta of the Roses and Sankt Ilya in Chains, to the strange and obscure stories of Sankta Ursula, Sankta Maradi, and the Starless Saint.

I AM TRASH FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING LEIGH BARDUGO OKAY?😭😭 ignoring the fact that I haven’t finished the king of scars duology yet ( sorry Nikolai) I love all of Leigh Bardugo’s books. The characters, the writing, the plot aHHh it’s just all so good. Even though this is just a companion novel, I could not resist the urge to get my hands on the this gorgeous book, I mean just look at it! And there are the most stunning illustrations inside, I am very much freaking out.

“Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble. But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little. For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.”

I was pretty intimidated to start this. People either adore this series with their whole heart or think that this is the most pretentious book ever written. I’m not exactly sure where I fall in the spectrum. I started the first book and well, I’m confused? I have no clue what’s happening lol . I still have quite a big chunk of the book left and I hope I start enjoying it more because I have such high hopes for this series. I mean this plot sounds fantastic, these characters definitely seem well thought out, and the writing does have that sort of a lyrical dreamy feel to it . Also these covers are so so pretty aghHh. Well let’s see how the story progresses on 🤷‍♀️

” When rogue packs of wolf-hybrid soldiers threaten the tenuous peace alliance between Earth and Luna, Iko takes it upon herself to hunt down the soldiers’ leader. She is soon working with a handsome royal guard who forces her to question everything she knows about love, loyalty, and her own humanity. “

okay okay so I’ve already read this before but I got it second hand extremelyyy cheap so how in the world could I resist?😭 Iko takes the lead in this graphic novel and its so so so fun, I love that we get see more of her character here. Of course we get cameos from the rest of the Rampion Crew. Also the illustrations are so stunning, it’s wonderful to see the characters brought to life!

A net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. Mortmain plans to use his Infernal Devices, an army of pitiless automatons, to destroy the Shadowhunters. He needs only one last item to complete his plan: he needs Tessa Gray. Charlotte Branwell, head of the London Institute, is desperate to find Mortmain before he strikes. But when Mortmain abducts Tessa, the boys who lay equal claim to her heart, Jem and Will, will do anything to save her. For though Tessa and Jem are now engaged, Will is as much in love with her as ever. As those who love Tessa rally to rescue her from Mortmain’s clutches, Tessa realizes that the only person who can save her is herself. But can a single girl, even one who can command the power of angels, face down an entire army?

I did it. I finished the series. Clockwork Princess was intense and extremely heartbreaking, I still can’t properly process my thoughts about this book cause wow that ending had me in tears. At least Jem got the ending he deserved. (thank god he did because I was getting ready to throw my book across the room) Even though I loved this book a lot, the best book out of the series for me would still have to be Clockwork Prince. Anyways the infernal devices has quickly become one of my favourite series ever, and I’m so excited to read the dark artifices next!

“Lyra is rushing to the cold, far North, where witch clans and armored bears rule. North, where the Gobblers take the children they steal–including her friend Roger. North, where her fearsome uncle Asriel is trying to build a bridge to a parallel world. Can one small girl make a difference in such great and terrible endeavors? This is Lyra: a savage, a schemer, a liar, and as fierce and true a champion as Roger or Asriel could want–but what Lyra doesn’t know is that to help one of them will be to betray the other.”

I don’t even know why I picked this up. It just looked nice on the shelves I guess. I got the three in one edition so it looks HUGE and INtIMIdAtINg which will mostly result in me not picking it up for a while hahah. Anyways that cover is breathtaking and underneath the dust jacket it’s RED(cue Red taylor’s version) and it’s so so prettyyyy.

Thank you for reading this mess of a post, I really appreciate it 💗 have you read any of these books before? Let’s talk in the comments :)) A book haul always calls for an unhaul as well so let me know if you’d like to see that too lol.

see you soon, byEeEEeEEe

I’ll respond to comments soon :))

      2. Oh wait I just realised I’m wrong. I’ve read two books by Leigh Bardugo, the other being Ninth House which I loved. Different than I imagined and very dark/heavy but really interesting too. Just hope the sequel comes out soon.
